Prunus Laurocerasus Otto Luyken
‘Otto Luyken’ is a compact cultivar of English Laurel, Prunus laurocerasus. Generally 3-4 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide, it can grow larger over time. The foliage is shorter, narrower, and darker green. Creamy, flowers in upright clusters appear mid-Spring. The flowers are very aromatic, some would say powerful…Drupes -the ‘cherries’-appear shortly after, and are relished by wildlife.
Prefers moist, well-drained, soil in full to partial sun. Appreciates hottest sun relief in the warmest climates. Will not tolerate poorly drained soils.
