An outstanding variety for fresh eating developed by researchers at Louisiana State University. Very tolerant of sun, heat and drought with good resistance to pests and diseases as well. Survives in Zone 7, however fruit production is variable.  In Zone 9 or higher, reliably produces a spring and summer crop. Skin of ripe fruit is black and slightly wrinkled.

Versatile selection can be grown as a small tree or large shrub. The fruit is good for canning, jellies and eating fresh. Nice for larger patio containers.
