Andropogon Gerardii Blackhawks
Tall clumping grass with flat leaves that emerge dark green, darkening to purple and finally to black in the fall. Finger like seed heads emerge above the foliage, also darkening to deep purple. Provides height to the garden, up to 5’ tall with 2’ spread. Best in full sun, dry to medium moist, well-draining sites and tolerates a wide range of soils and conditions.
