Vaccinium ‘Emerald’ is a Southern Highbush blueberry cultivar developed by the University of Florida. This cultivar is particularly prized for its early-season, high-quality fruit and low chill hour requirement, making it an ideal choice for regions with warmer climates and mild winters.

Reaching a mature size of 5 to 6 feet in both height and width, ‘Emerald’ produces large, firm berries that have a mild, sweet flavor. The plant is partially self-fertile, but fruit production can be significantly improved by planting it alongside another Southern Highbush variety.  It will overwinter in USDA zone 6, but performs best in Zones 8 through 10, where it thrives and offers consistent yields and early harvests. Requires only 150 to 250 chill hours.
