Vaccinium ‘Jewel’ is a Southern Highbush blueberry cultivar developed by the University of Florida renowned for its early ripening period, typically producing fruit from late spring to early summer. The berries are notably large, firm, and possess a sweet flavor, making them highly desirable for both fresh eating and processing. The plant exhibits vigorous growth and an upright habit, reaching heights of 5 to 6 feet. It will overwinter in USDA zone 6, but performs best in Zones 8 through 10 and requires approximately 200 to 300 chill hours, making it well-suited for cultivation in warmer climates.  Due to its high yield potential and superior fruit quality, ‘Jewel’ has become a popular choice among commercial growers and home gardeners in suitable regions.
